Volunteers are a great asset to any organisation or business. Many organisations use volunteers on a regular basis to supplement their workforce. It is a cost-effective way to complete tasks that otherwise may not be completed on time or where the organisation or business may not have the resources. Volunteers bring extensive life experience, a range of skills and knowledge to their role or they may be retired and are keen to give back to their communities. Whilst these staff are in a voluntary capacity, they are still paraprofessionals and are required to work within organisational policies and procedures as well as understand the professional practices of their role. Therefore, it is important that volunteers are provided with individual or group supervision to ensure they meet the requirements of the role, feel valued and supported and understand their role as a paraprofessional.

This one-day training program has been specifically designed for new and experienced supervisors and managers who are supervising and managing volunteers in any capacity. We explore how to engage volunteers in supervision, how to prepare them for supervision meetings and how to use a supervision model to ensure discussions remains effective.
